WordPress site not working properly

    This problem started about two or three weeks ago. I’m not sure if it is related to the latest WP upgrade or not. The site from a user standpoint seems to be working properly. The problem is when I log into the admin panel. Nothing is working properly on the backend.

    Moving anywhere from the admin panel takes five times longer than normal: pages, posts, plugins, etc…

    I can’t add, deactivate, or remove plugins. I get an error that says: Internal server error. Apache server error at http://www.clickhereonlinemarketing.com at port 80.

    I use the jetpack plugin. This also hasn’t worked properly since the problem first surfaced. If I try to view site stats for example it will enter a long loop of about three or four minutes then come back with the error: Problem connecting to host try reloading page.

    On the dashboard home page where there are two RSS feeds to WordPress I get error messages saying Couldn’t connect to Host.

    I don’t know why the link button for posting doesn’t work, but it doesn’t seem to work with IE10. But I’ll give it a try. Here is the link using the link button. If the you don’t see anything, then you know that it’s not working properly.

    Your website feels slow on the front end as well. I tested it at Pingdom, and it took 10.2 seconds to load (slower than 86% of all tested websites).

    The problem could be whatever hosting company you use. If you’re using shared hosting, especially ones that cost less than $5 a month, especially ones that offer unlimited everything, it could be that the servers are bogged down.

    But you’re also getting Apache errors, so I’m guessing it’s a problem with a plugin. Are you able to disable plugins at all? If so, try it and see.

    If not, you can manually disable plugins in your server’s file system. Get in it, find the wp-content folder, and enter it. In there, find the plugins folder, and rename it to something else.

    If I recall, that will stop WordPress from loading the plugins, and we can see if that helps.

    Thanks for the reply. I tried your suggestion of renaming the plugin folder and that did not resolve my problem.

    I am using a delux Hosting account with Godaddy. I currently have four WordPress sites running and this is the only one I’m having problems with.

    I contacted Godaddy and they weren’t able to find any problems on their end. They suggested I contact WordPress.

    So I’m at a loss as to what the problem may be. I have a hunch that it may be related to the W3 total cache plugin. When the site started to slow down I went into the W3 cache settings and there were a half dozen notes about various features not working. They gave me the option of auto inserting code and auto removing code, which I allowed the plugin to do, since I’m using it on two of the other sites. I don’t know if it’s related or not.

    I can’t do anything with plugins because I get an error message and it times out.

    The problem turned out to be related to the W3 Total Cache plugin. I was able to delete this plugin and replace it with WP Super Cache. Everything is working at top speed now.
