WordPress unusable after importing 758 posts

    I’m moving over from BlogCFC to WordPress, and I’ve used a script to extract my BlogCFC posts and insert them into the WordPress database. Everything appears to to have worked.

    The only thing my script touches is Categories, Posts, and Comments.

    However after completing the import, WordPress is almost completely unresponsive. I can navigate to my site http://ooine.com/wordpress and see my imported posts, but clicking on anything is useless. The site apparently times out and reports nothing.

    Also, the WordPress Admin Dashboard becomes essentially unresponsive with the boxes along the right-hand side missing.

    Is WordPress able to handle 700+ posts? Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

    Here’s some more information…

    I just posted a new test post, and it appears on the site normally. Clicking on it or the comments link works! Doing so on any other post will cause the site to time out.

    I think I’ve given up on this import. Seems as though I must be missing some information that WordPress needs. Perhaps the “wp_postmeta” table stuff. Hmmm…

    If you can post the script you used we might be able to get an idea of the issue.

    I know… it’s just that it’s a ColdFusion script that consists of 3 files. 🙂

    Anyway… good news! I didn’t give up and I got things working!

    The problem was with the “guid” field in the “wp_posts” table. I was writing the wrong information to this field. I was originally writing the full SEO type of URL with slashes including year/month/day, etc. This is wrong. WordPress is looking for the format:

    “http://ooine.com/wordpress/?p=510”

    Everything appears to be working now. Cheers!
