Think you may need the API key which you will have received when you originally signed up. It should be in an e-mail some where. I had same issue and solved it with the API key from my original e-mail.
I don’t follow. No API key was required when I first installed and started using WordPress, so there is no “original e-mail” with an API key.
Is there support for this plugin?
Is there support for this plugin?
Not saying “Please” and the “Bueller? Bueller?” bit is probably why you didn’t get much help previously. Just something to think about as politeness will go a long way around here.
Actually you’re at the wrong site. API key issues are handled over at wp.com since that’s where the key is coming from.
Neil is probably talking about the email you received when you created your wp.com account. The API key should have been contained within that.
Does the email address you’ve hidden with the ‘*******’s match up with the admin email address for the blog?
Hey guys,
I’m using ww.wp.xz.cn and attempting to fight spam, but all the plug ins also ask for an API key which I can find nothing about.
Thanks for any help,
Tim
I’m having a similar issue —
I set up a WP site for somebody else, and I used my API key to activate the stats plugin. I did not anticipate that my firend would need to log in separately to use the plugin each time he viewed it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it so he could activate it with his own API key, but the plugin won’t accept it.Is there something I can delete in the database to clear out my API key and let him (the person who will be using this the most) use his?
Thank you very much for you help.
Hi:
Same Problem.
I received my API key in Jan 2007, when I opened my WP.com blog. I moved to a private server late last year and used the WP.com API key without any problems for my WP.com stats.
I recently upgraded to WP.org 2.6 and upgraded WP.com stats to 1.3.2 and the API gives me the following message.
The API key “**********” belongs to the WordPress.com account of “dehay”. If this is not your account, please re-enter your API key.
This is my WP.com account what’s going on?
I would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks.
BTW: I tried getting help through support, email and forum, at WP.com and they said they only deal with WP.com issues NOT WP.org
dehay: Isn’t there a button below that for adding the blog to your account?

i have had in an another live 2 blogs in .com, then another now hosted. so i have 2 API, and i do not know when i have to use one or another : please 1 API new if you want and only 1 identity enough : the 2 identities

Error from last API Key attempt:
The owner of that API Key (penseelibre1) is not on the access list for this blog (4376771). To be added to the access list, you must contact support.
andy:
Yes there was a button however, since the blog already exists on the account why would I add it?
BTW:Sorry for the delay.
