Hi, I have a live website using woothemes plug in and I want to work on my site with it still live, at the moment when I log in to wordpress to work on my site and with the website still live at the bottom of each page there is an edit text but not on the home or shop page, what is the best way to be able to work on my site and keep it live at the same time.
    Regards

  • Use the dashboard for the pages and edit away.

Hi Kmessinger, thanks for that, the problem is that any one on the internet can log into my dashboard as well by just clicking on the same edit text.

    No. Only you see that.

Can I make a copy site and do it there? if so how.

Can I make a copy site and do it there?

Not really. Any changes you make go into the database – that is where everything except images resides.

You can do text changes and cut and paste but you have to be careful and use one that just has the text and no hidden style codes.

[edit] WP is designed to do your posts, etc. in the dashboard with the site live. You can decide when to publish or keep things as a draft, have different menus to try out and themes, etc.

Hi Kmessinger, thanks again for your response, but when I log in to my dashboard the [edit] shows on the bottom of my live pages on the internet, what is to stop any one clicking on that [edit] and going into my dashboard when I’m logged in.

The edit only shows up for you when you are logged in. No one else can see it.

Now that is what I wanted to hear, good man, thanks Kmessinger, as you have gathered I’m still a train E.
    Best regards
