Reviews here seem a unfair. The plugin did an excellent job after I did a scan, set the page to display 250 entries, and pressed the red button to delete all listed/unused attachments. I tested my website thoroughly and required images are all present.

    Hi @patashnik,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience — we really appreciate it!

We’re glad to hear the plugin worked well for you and that the cleanup process went smoothly. It’s especially helpful that you tested your site afterward and confirmed everything remained intact — that’s exactly the kind of careful workflow we recommend.

Your note about adjusting the results per page and using the bulk delete option is also valuable for other users, so thanks for highlighting that.

We understand that experiences can vary depending on how media is used across different sites, and feedback like yours helps provide a more balanced perspective.

    Thanks again for your support!

    Best regards,
    Media Hygiene Team

    Hi @slui

Gonna have to track back on this review, because it turned out that the images in my portfolio website were gone, but the cache was keeping the frontend together (newb mistake, I know).

Many plugins that use images in posts/blocks don’t register post_type=attachment as attached in the Media Library. It’s exactly those images that were deleted by Media Hygiene.

Hopefully, there is a hacky way to work around that. Maybe keeping it’s own track of image to post attachments, scanning the content for those on first run and then re-scanning when the save_post action is fired. Anyway. Good luck with that.

EDIT: Maybe try to reproduce all that on latest WordPress. It’s been a couple of busy months since I’ve dealt with the issue, so I might not be recalling this 100% correctly. For the case at hand, I used Meow Gallery, but I’ve observed this with other plugins over the years as well.
