    As we had Coppermine before we went to WordPress we didn’t want to change so I used this plugin in the sidebar and it works fine.
    Even better I created a clone and fixed some settings to display matching images from the gallery to a post using the keywords feature matched to my post slug for a specific custom post type.
    Works well on the cvrda site especially in the dinghydata section where the images of a type of boat are shown alongside the post about that boat.

    Addenda: Still working fine with WordPress 4.5.3
