Not without core editing. That is hard coded into the rewrite rules.
Not sure if it’s related but I am finding that links to archives, categories and tags are not functioning.
For example : http://www.markdalton.co.uk/index.php/tag/family/ just shows the home page again.
Since upgrading ALL my permalinks, categories and tags are broken.
Solved itself somehow (ntwork connectivity?). Sorry for troubling you. Glad you are here.
Still having problems with this not working. Any one help?

Hi there,
Testing out the new WordPress 2.7 before upgrading my blog to 2.7.
With the testing i saw the comment paging permalinks isn’t exactly how i want it to be. For example, with my current permalink structure it’s like this:
http://www.myblog.com/news/123/post-title.html/comment-page-x
where x = the page number.
Is there anyway to get it like this?
http://www.myblog.com/news/123/post-title-comment-page-x.html
edit: or even shorter?
http://www.myblog.com/news/123/post-title-cpx.html
