../wp-admin/plugins.php page goes blank

As soon as the plugin is activated, the entire listing of plugins disappears from the ../wp-admin/plugins.php page – as if there are NO plugins.
When we go to the Add Plugin page – it displays as active as do any other active plugin we have, any deactivated are showing as installed.
When we remove the admin-menu-editor folder, everything returns to normal.
Something is blocking the coding that drives the installed plugins to display properly.
