Hi Petr, I’m Jose the author of Freesoul Deactivate Plugins.
That API call is surely requested by Freesoul Deactivate Plugins, but this happens only when a new major version of the plugin is available.
I will shortly explain to you how it works.
Now maybe you have 1.8.9.4 installed. The new version 1.9.0 is available but not everybody sees the update notification in the backend. In this case, FDP implements a staged rollout. It means that first only installations with a few plugins see the notification, and FDP checks also the number of open threads on the support forum to calculate the risk.
If there are too many open threads, the notification is shown to fewer people in the beginning.
Usually, it doesn’t take so long, probably the server of WordPress is slow for some reason.
However, if you say that is too also, we have to consider again this strategy. Maybe we will remove the check of the open threads.
Now, to solve the problem it will be enough to update the plugin. Probably, you still don’t see the update notification, but you can update it by downloading the last version from the plugin page https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/freesoul-deactivate-plugins/ and then uploading it from the page of plugins.
If you still have problems after the update I suggest you to open a thread on the plugin support forum.
Have a great day!
Jose

Hi Jose,
thank you – plugin update solved that issue. However I do not understand, why the request took so long time to download. The server is a little bit overloaded for now (loading & syncing data), but after turning off Freesoul, the admin area was way faster. Would you mind to plan a further updates, so they do not check api.ww.wp.xz.cn on every request, but cache it for a while? I don’t know why it took 2 seconds, as when I download it directly from SSH console, it is under 100ms… strange.. thanks!
Many thanks to you @semtix
Your server has less impact on this problem, ww.wp.xz.cn which should give the response that maybe was too busy.
However, I’ve right now published 1.9.1. The staged rollout is completely removed. It was nice to have, but better to don’t risk to slowing down the backend.
This was more a feature for me than for the user. I will manage the risk of pressure on the support in another way.
Have a great day!
Jose
