Hello @tamsin-carter
Thank you for getting in touch. Is WP Activity Log installed on your website or not?
The plugin does not create log files in the /wp-admin/ directory. Any log files it creates are created in the /uploads/ directory. What that could have been is someone contacted our support and asked them to do some debug.
Having said that, our plugin never creates files in the /wp-admin/ directory, so that must have been moved there by someone. Also, such files are only created after manually switching some debugging options in the plugin, which is usually instructed by our support team.
So you can safely delete that file. Also, as a tip; log files can never be malicious since they are non-executable files.
I hope the above helps. Should you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Have a great day.

Someone else reported a similar issue (support ticket), so we have looked into the code and there is an edge case bug here. Thank you for reporting this.
Can you please download the support patch of the plugin which includes the fix?

@robert681 This has been discussed with you before and you continue to make this mistake. Stop calling support topics “tickets”. It is an important distinction that you are refusing to comply with.
Please stop doing that.
