So the problem directly after it successfully posts the new comment and just before the redirect. Boom, blank page. Disabled all plugins, still the same. Replaced the file with the original, same blank page.

Just reverted single.php and comments.php back to original, still blank.

was akismet, but had to disable all plugins, then re-enable all but akismet. disabling only akismet didn’t work.
