WP-Config Workaround Causes Issues

    I set up the SMTP Other option to work with my web host, but when I added the password to wp-config.php as instructed, the emails to end users and (admin) myself via the Easy Digital Downloads checkout process were never received.

    I installed a mail logger plugin and it showed the emails were being sent, but there was an SMTP Authentication error for every one. When I removed the string from wp-config.php and set the password within the plugin, it fixes the issue.

    The strange thing is I would get the WP Mail SMTP test email every time, but that’s it. Everything else failed.

    Any idea what the issue could have been? I worked with my web host on the issue, so they weren’t aware of any problems on their end.

    Hi,

    Please check your wp-config.php file and move the plugin’s constants code you added to the file, above the /* That's all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */ line. Like so: https://a.supportally.com/nw7JLN.

    Let me know if this resolves your constants issue and email delivery.

    Thanks Gregor for such a quick response. This one was on me, and was an incorrectly set password in the wp-config.php, which only made it worse when I tested webmail using the correct password and it succeeded making me think doubley sure the credentials were indeed correct. Nope. My bad.
