    Hello,

I downloaded WP File Manager because I am receiving a Destination folder already exists error when trying to install another plugin. However, when I go into file manager, I have the wp-admin and the wp-includes folder, but no wp-content folder. Since I’m getting the destination folder already exists error, surely the wp-content folder must exist, but it isn’t appearing in the file manager. Is this a limitation of the basic plan?

Error: Destination folder already exists /www/wp-content/plugins/js_composer_salient/

One thing is I don’t know why it’s /www/ rather than /wordpress/ as the path

  • Hello,

I hope you are doing well. This issue is not directly related to our plugin. There is not much we can do here, but we suggest you try the suggestions below to troubleshoot this further.

    Issue Overview:

Why the wp-content Folder Might Not Be Visible?

The wp-content folder may not show up in WP File Manager for a couple of reasons:

-Permissions: The file permissions might stop WP File Manager from showing certain folders.

-Configuration: Some hosting providers may change the default paths or limit access to specific folders.

    -Path Difference (/www/ vs. /wordpress/):

Seeing /www/ instead of /wordpress/ usually means your server uses a different directory structure. Many hosting providers use /www/ as the main directory, which can be different from typical WordPress setups.

    Steps to Fix the Issue:

    1. Check Permissions:

Use your hosting panel or an FTP client to check the permissions for the wp-content folder. Set folder permissions to 755 and file permissions to 644.

    2. Find the Folder Directly:

Use an FTP client like FileZilla or your hosting panel’s file manager to look for the wp-content folder. Go to the /www/ directory and see if the folder is there.

    3. Fix the Plugin Installation Issue:

Go to the /www/wp-content/plugins/ directory using FTP or your hosting panel’s file manager. Find the folder named js_composer_salient and rename it. This should fix the “Destination folder already exists” error.

    4. Contact hosting provider:

If the issue persists, we suggest you contact your hosting provider for better assistance.

    Best,
    File Manager Support Team
