Jetpack’s SSO module does indeed respect the default WordPress cookie timeout. If you log in to your site without using SSO, you’ll notice that you will get logged out after 2 days. jetpack’s SSO module follows that default behaviour.
We’re considering using the WordPress.com default cookie timeout instead, but we haven’t implemented that option yet. Keep an eye on the changelog in the future Jetpack releases, we’ll mention it there when we make changes to SSO!
Thanks for the feedback.
Thank you Jeremy, I’ll keep an eye on future developments. Meanwhile your message has put me in the right direction and I have just installed “WP Login Timeout Settings” plugin which allows the default to be changed.
I would also like to take the chance to thank and praise the excellent work put in to the Jetpack plugin which is more a powerhouse than a plugin actually. 🙂 Out of curiosity my favourite ZX Spectrum (if you are old enough to know what that is) action shooter game was called Jetpac; not the same spelling though. But it seems the name is linked to good stuff… 😉 Here is a video showing someone having a blast at it… 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=BE&v=jT4gzLAryCs
Thank you again!!!

Excellent, I’m glad to hear you could find a work-around.
In the meantime, we found a way to extend the cookie expiration to 1 year when you use Jetpack’s SSO module. We’ll try to include that enhancement in the next major Jetpack release. You can follow our progress here:

Thanks for the kind words! I was more of a Commodore 64 kid myself, but that game sounds fun! 🙂 🚀
