WP Mail SMTP Lite Errors – Flummoxed

    Up front – I’m a noob old guy that just wants to blog about cars. Every now and then WP glitches and no idea why. Error message below. I used to be able to send emails from my blog email account. Now I cannot – I have an error that sends me in loops of ads to upgrade to a paid WP Mail SMTP plugin. I still get emails on my phone from my blog, almost all phishing attacks and spam. I just want to correspond with readers occasionally from my blog email, not my personal email. Welcome any help. Many thanks.

    Hi @supplyguy55,

    Thanks for reaching out! It looks like you have selected the SMTP.com mailer under the WP Mail SMTP -> Settings page, but you have not configured it yet.

    If you want to use SMTP.com mailer, you can sign up for a trial account using this link and configure it by following our guide here.

    Then, you should be able to get their API key from the following link.

    Thanks @darshanaw. My confusion is also because I was using WP Mail SMTP- Lite, and apparently still am, and it was once configured and I could send and receive emails, but everything I see now (including your link) is about a free trial and eventually paying for WP Mail SMTP. What happened to WP Mail SMTP-Lite? E-mails still come in, but I cannot send.

    Hi @supplyguy55,

    I apologize for the confusion, but WP Mail SMTP & SMTP.com are two different companies. With the WP Mail SMTP Lite plugin, you can use the below mailers, but you need to sign up for those 3rd party mailers separately.

    – SMTP.com
    – Sendinblue SMTP
    – Mailgun SMTP
    – SendGrid SMTP
    – Postmark SMTP
    – SparkPost SMTP
    – Gmail SMTP (Gmail, Google Workspace, G Suite)
    – All Other SMTP
