    Hey,

since yesterday I don’t receive any emails anymore. When I looked to see what the problem was, I received the following error from Wp Mail:

“Mailer: Custom SMTP Server SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.”

Sent a test mail. The full error log shows different settings than I actually configured.

    Versions: WordPress: 6.1.1
    WordPress MS: No
    PHP: 8.0.26
    WP Mail SMTP: 3.7.0

Host: original host of the domain before I moved the domain
    Port: 587 instead of 465
    SMTPSecure: tls instead SSL

I moved the domain and site 3 months ago and configured the SMTP settings accordingly. Everything worked perfectly until yesterday. And now my actual settings are not taken.

Hope you can help me. Thanks a lot!

    Hi @hitsdesign,

Thanks for reaching out! If you see different settings than actually configured, most probably your SMTP configurations are overridden by another plugin.

Please check if there’s another SMTP plugin or you may need to go through the recently installed plugins to troubleshoot this issue further.

    I hope this helps. Thanks!

    Hey,
thank you for you help. We found the issue. It was produce by a code in the theme file which has overwritten the SMTP Plugin. We didn’t know how the code gets there but by deleting it, mailing did work fine again.

    Cheers
