“WP Statistics needs a quick update”

    Hello there,

    I use the 14.15.4 version of the plugin. On my plugins page it shows that this is the latest version of the plugin and no update is needed. However, when I click on the statistic button on my backends sidebar, the following message is displayed:

    “WP Statistics needs a quick update: Run this brief update to keep your stats accurate.”
    It presents me an “update now” button with this message.

    Is this legit? I just want to make sure it is not some kind of hack or scam by a third party.

    Hi @sfrueh,

    Thank you for reaching out.

    The message you see is completely legitimate and safe. Here’s why it appears:

    • The plugin has detected that a small database update is required.
    • This update is necessary to keep your statistics accurate.
    • Only administrators of the site can see this notice.

    You can safely click the “Update Now” button; it’s part of the WP Statistics plugin itself and not a scam or third-party injection.
