WPeC Gift Certificates

We installed the new WPeC Gift Certificates extension and are absolutely delighted with the results so far! It’s now the basis of our Christmas 2014 promotional campaign, we like it that much.

The team at getshopped.org helped us through some initial teething troubles and within a very short time (minutes, not hours or days), the extension was running flawlessly. For us this was mostly a currency related issue, through which the cart displayed Dollars in the Gift Certificate by default, rather than using the store’s default currency. We’d also used Variations for pre-determined gift values which hadn’t been enable yet (it has now!).

The store has also been very reliable, although sometimes the data sent back from payment gateways (specifically: when cards fail), can be a little vague. This is an external issue, so there’s not much anyone at WPeC can do about it. Call whomever handles the payment gateway and they can always determine what happened.

It’s extremely reassuring to know that this was developed by the same team as the WPeC store, as future compatibility is absolutely key to it’s long term success. Whilst running a system this capable does occasionally mean there are quirks, they do seem very few and far between.

We look forward to some new features, particularly:
1, The ability for clients to type in the value of their Gift Certificate numerically
2, Multiple Gift Certificates, so family and friends, colleagues, sponsors etc., can contribute to a purchase
3, Custom templates for Gift Certificates, so we can ensure the look matches our Theme
