Clicking on page edit for certain language results in an admin language change for that language.
When the page in that language is opened for example /wp-admin/post.php?lang=en&action=edit&post_type=page&post=71 the Site Kit message appears:

@webg Thanks for providing all the information it’s all very helpful. Can you confirm that if you temporarily disable the WPML plugin does this stop you getting the Site Kit message or do you continue to see this?
There is no way to replicate the issue by disabling WPML because no language switching occurs.
If I edit the page of the default website language the issue didn’t exist, it happens only with the secondary languages.
@webg thanks for confirming this. We have seen these sorts of occurrences in the past with several translation plugins. Here is an example topic: https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/2542#issuecomment-775224255.
In these cases you can define the canonical URL for your site via a filter. Please could you try downloading This mini plugin (via the “Download Zip” button) which should be able to help you fix this issue you are having.
The plugin defines a single URL as the canonical URL and uploads and activates as a standard WP plugin. After doing this you may see the notification that the URL has changed one more time (if it’s not your home URL – without any language path). After that, however, Site Kit should remain connected.
Please let me know how you get on with this and if you have any further questions?
Yes, the canonical filter solves the issue.
Thanks!
Great to hear it, many thanks for the update! If you have any further queries be sure to reach out. If you’ve been a Site Kit user for some time please also take a moment to leave your plugin feedback.
