I am very impressed with the plugin so far! I don’t really need technical support, just advice for how to best use the plugin… hopefully it’s OK to do that in the support area!

I went through the setup and I see how the end users can create books, chapters, genres, fandoms, etc. through the taxonomies, which is great. What if, in addition to letting people post whatever they like, however, I wanted to create some entries on my own that automatically grouped together? Would I create my own Book that people contribute to?

The idea of our site is to supply a short writing prompt every day to get the creative juices flowing. Ideally, if someone wanted to write for Prompt #1, all of the responses people come up with would be grouped together underneath the prompt. I think I could create a taxonomy with proof number but if people don’t select it when they enter their piece, then their writing would not be categorized with the others, correct? Just trying to figure out how to accomplish something like this.

    Thanks!

Yes, we welcome non-support questions. My apologies for the delay replying.

I’d go with your idea of creating a selectable taxonomy for your prompt, OR simply use a tag for your writing prompts. Use a widget for a tag cloud or search by tag, and then all the submissions for that tag would appear in search results.

Please do share what you go with. It’s always helpful to us to see the plugin in use. Thank you!

That’s great, thanks! I did it as a new taxonomy as you suggested. Followup question: can I pass a variable to the Submission page through the URL? So for example, when we post Prompt #1, could we have a link that says “Answer this prompt” that automatically populates the Prompt taxonomy dropdown? Right now there are only 8 to scroll through but in just a couple years there will be over 1000 if we do one a day.

If you have the coding ability to do that, then sure. We’d love to have you contribute to the plugin!
