    Hi Team!

Just noticed that the Home button of the WordPress site that I maintain has a strange issue where the colour has changed. I have checked the Heywood menu editor and it doesnt allow me to select a colour. Does anyone know how to fix it ?Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

No, the color hasn’t really changed.

The “Home” link is highlighted (with a different color) to indicate to users that this is the page they’re currently viewing. You’ll see the same effect when you visit the “Extra Curricular” menu link.

This is a basic web design concept you’ll find used on many websites.

(If you’re referring to something else, feel free to point that out.)

Hey @gappiah thanks for the reply. Yep I understand exactly, but if you hover over the extra curricular part it goes green, then back to blue. The Home button just does 2 shades of green…..if you click on extra curricular all of them go blue, so yeah not correct. thanks anyway though!

but if you hover over the extra curricular part it goes green, then back to blue. The Home button just does 2 shades of green…..

That’s because you’re merely hovering… you haven’t OPENED the “Extra Curricular” page. But you’ve OPENED the homepage. Apples vs oranges comparison.

Again, click to OPEN the “Extra Curricular” menu (don’t just hover!) and you’ll see exactly the same effect there as you see on the homepage now.

As I mentioned earlier, the different color is used to show users this is the page that’s currently open (ie the page they’re reading). Your theme shows a different color when you hover a menu. Some sites even use yet another color to highlight links that the user has already visited.

So OPEN the “Extra Curricular” link to test.

But, of course, it’s your site, and you’re free to remove the link color indicator for the page the user is currently viewing 😀

Your theme seems to be a custom or commercial theme that’s no longer on the market: I couldn’t find any support information, and the author URL in the stylesheet does not work. So if the theme doesn’t give you any option to change the “currently open” menu link color, your only option is to use custom CSS code.
