The republished date is set to the current date i.e. the plugin “asks” the server for the current date and assigns that to the post. I’m not sure why your republished posts would have an old date or even how an old date would be retrieved.
What are the original and republished dates you are seeing?

Same plugin is giving different dates on two different domains hosted on single server.

http://Www.bilytica.com/blog
On first it’s giving 16 October 2018 to yesterday’s republished
On second it’s giving 25 September 2018 to all Republished
We have set the REPUBLISHED position to “Second Position”
It seems plugin is getting some random date.
To do troubleshooting I have set the position of Republished blog to “ist position” at http://www.peopleqlik.com/blog
