    Hi, Tobias!
I’m using TablePress for a while and have one problem.

When I try to make bulk import using .zip archive, my tables are wrong imported. Suddenly they have more rows and cells than on my computer and wrong characters like ó and other.

Interesting that while I import one .xlsx file, the table imports totally okay. When I gather the same table in or more that one table in .zip file, they import wrong.

I checked an encoding using Notepad++, the encoding is UTF-8 (with or without BOM – I tried both formats). And checked with OpenOffice – it also says, that encoding is UTF-8.

Tell me please, why this problem occurs and what should I do?
    Thanks!

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

To be honest, I don’t know. It might be possible that the libraries that are used for ZIP handling on the server somehow modify the encoding or something like that.
Can you maybe test again with CSV files? Those are usually better in this regard.

    Tobias

    Hi! Thanks for quick answer.
When I create one table in .csv and import it on the website, it imports wrong – it has more rows and cells than on my computer and wrong characters like ó and other.

Maybe, I can send you one of those tables (in .csv and .xslx format) and you can look what am I doing wrong?

    Hi,

can you then maybe check the CSV file in a normal text editor? Does it already have more rows and columns there? If so, the problem is how Excel saves the table, I’m afraid. And TablePress can not know that you don’t want all of these cells…
One idea in this case is to copy/paste the relevant data cells from the existing to a new Excel file. Often, Excel will save the table correctly after that again.

    Hi, Tobias!
I checked file and everything is ok. I found answer on my question: while importing I should’ve set files encoding. Earlier I didn’t do that and it was set on .csv format.

Now I switched on .xlsx and everything is ok. It’s a shame, that I didn’t knew about this function before.

Sorry for disturbing. Thanks for your help!
