• Hi! I use the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin, and I include a custom meta description for all my pages and blog posts. This is what I want to appear when I share my posts on Facebook.

It wasn’t working the way I wanted it to, so I installed the Facebook Open Graph, Google+ and Twitter Card Tags plugin instead. It’s pulling my posts and images just fine, but instead of my custom meta description, it’s pulling the first few lines of the blog post.

The post I’m trying to share is here:http://michellelowery.com/pushing-past-fear-publishing-book/

I’ve tried adjusting the settings every which way, and I can’t seem to get that to work. Can you please help me fix this?

Thank you and have a great day!

  • Have you activated “Use title, url (canonical) and description from WPSEO” in out plugin settings page on “3rd Party Integration” > “WordPress SEO by Yoast” ?

I’m looking at your html code and you seem to have done it now. Can you confirm?

Yes, I do have that activated. It may have just taken it a little while to kick in because I see now that it is drawing my custom meta description. Yay! Thank you for getting back to me! Happy holidays!

This is because Facebook does cache on the tags. You can go to https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ inset your URL then “Debug” and then “Fetch new scrap information”.

Anyway, we are doing that “automagically” on the next version.
