• Hi, strange issue I can’t quite get my head round. Moving a large-ish blog to a new installation. Old one is still on 3.5 and can’t be upgraded. In order, so I’m clear:

-Exported ‘All Content’ using built in XML export. About 20MB in size.
—-Everything is present and correct with post HTML source etc
-Realise this included 32k pending spam comments. Install plugin to delete these en masse, then deactivate the plugin
-Export All Content again, but for some reason it doesn’t seem to include post content and excerpts, and I’ve done nothing different to before
-If I export ‘Posts’ only, no filters applied, everything is now there as it was in the original ‘All Content’ export

In other words, everything is *there* but it doesn’t seem to be getting exported under the ‘All Content’ category. Anyone have ideas?…I want to use ‘All Content’ because there are a large number of legit comments I want to export alongside the tags, categories etc.

  • Hey,

Have you tried to use a plugin like Duplicator (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/duplicator/) to move everything to the new installation? I think that’s easier this way to make a copy of your blog since this plugin will take care of everything for you.

I would try that, but unfortunately anything I need would need to be WordPress 3.5-RC4 compatible as that is what the creaking old site is using and upgrading isn’t an option for now (that’s partially why the site move is happening).

I might need to find one though @raduconstantin, I tried the export again today and this time it is inclduing post content, but not all of the posts. Hopeless.
