XML-RPC Server Accepts Post Requests Only

    When trying to access the website hosted on my Synology box from the WordPress IOS app (19.6, 19.6.0.6 – ‘View site button’ in the External section of the app) I receive the error message ‘XML-RPC Server Accepts Post Requests Only’. The same is true when trying to edit a blog page on the app. When opening an element from the Media Library, an error message ‘An error occurred when loading an media element’ (translated from German). Opening a page for editing works fine.

    The same error message ‘XML-RPC Server Accepts Post Requests Only’ if I press the ‘WP Admin button’ in the External section of the app.

    Accessing the site via Safari from either my mobile phone or the MacBook, works without any error.

    I noticed many post on your support site regarding this error related to Jetpack (Statistics), but I do not have this package installed.

    Do you mean you don’t have the JetPack plugin installed at all, or do you have the plugin installed but the Statistics module is not enabled?

    Note that the WordPress mobile apps (both iOS and Android) are actually provided by WordPress.COM, and you need their JetPack plugin to even set up the app to connect to your self-hosted WordPress site.

    So if you don’t have the JetPack plugin installed at all, you definitely want to install it (though I don’t see how you could have connected the iOS app to your site without the plugin).

    Hi George. Thanks for your feedback. I could access my website on the Synology box earlier without having this package installed. Have these requirements changed recently ? I will give it a try later ….
