xml sitemap generation

    Hello,

    Could you explain how the xml sitemaps are generated by Yoast SEO?

    When I go to http://www.domainname.com/sitemap_index.xml my sitemaps are listed properly and each sitemap is accessible but I do not see these .xml files in my web server’s file system.

    Is this handled by url rewrite? If so what files are those urls (sitemap_index.xml, post-sitemap.xml, page-sitemap.xml) pointing to?
