Same problem.
It’s clear that the issue is related to the xmlrpc: when nextgen is active Jetpack plugin can’t connect. WordPress android can’t refresh and update content.
Xmlrpc.php gives a white page (instead it should answer with: “XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only”.
This happens on somes hosting environment.
Can’t identify which server configuration make this happens.
I’m trying for months with any result. Please imagely support help us to solve.
please report on this issue, I still cant resolve this on my server
oK. Solved with a workaround. Switched back to php 7.0 and everything works well. There are issues with php 7.2, and nextgen gallery. When nextgen is activated xmlrpc.php stop to communicate and every other plugin or app (jetpack or android wordpress) wont work.
If you encounter this issue you need to roll back server php to 7.0.
Hope it helps, I spent hours finding it.

I am using php 7.0 on several accounts and when NextGEN gallery plugin is Active, xmlrcp.php is blocked and Jetpack and the WP app both iOS and Android won’t work.
I rolled back to php5.6 just to try. It doesn’t matter which version for me. As soon as I deactivate NextGEN, all works properly.
While another gallery plugin might solve the issue, hundreds of posts who need to be edited and that is not practical. And so I would prefer using nexgen obviously.
