Yet another FTP issue

    hello, FTP works if I set an IP and not working if I enter the hostname. I have a dynamic IP and I’m using dyndns service.

    I have tested the hostname with FileZilla and macOS client with no problems. I also tested that my hosting service provider resolves the hostname to IP (hostinger) with ping and nslookup via SSH and resolves fine.

    Just when I enter the hostname I get a message that my credentials are invalid, which obviously is not my case.

    since I have a dynamic IP I hope this will be fixed asap.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your message. This can happen because UpdraftPlus connects through your web server’s PHP FTP functions, which may not resolve hostnames the same way as FTP apps like FileZilla.

    If the connection works using the IP but fails using the hostname, please continue using the IP address instead – this is the recommended solution. Some hosts restrict PHP’s DNS lookups, which causes this issue.

    If your IP changes frequently, you can contact your hosting provider and ask them to ensure that PHP can resolve your dynamic hostname correctly.
