    I wrote a referer spam plugin that has worked 99% for me It is very simple, and doesn’t require any mod-rewrite or .htaccess stuff.

    Optionally you can log to a mysql table and for those with root access you can run a tcp network level blocker which will neutralize the spammer forever! Very satisfying.

    Is this plug-in of any use for those of us who have comments and trackbacks disabled?

    The trackbacks and comments are irrelevant to this script. It only handles referer spam.

    It works by redirecting the client back to itself if it’s referer matches any of a bunch of poker, pharmacy, etc.
