[Yet Another Related Posts Plugin] Issue with Thesis
-
For the life of me, I’m not able to get related posts to appear. I’ve confirmed that there’s data in the DB table, lowered the threshold to 1 and tried to display the related posts by using the custom template file. Nothing works.
HELP! π

1. is this a new install or are you upgrading? What version is this?
2. Is the “automatic display” option turned on in YARPP options? With this on, it should be displaying under the content of *single post* display pages. If you need it displayed elsewhere, you’ll have to add the coderelated_posts()in your theme. Also, try turning on display in your RSS feed and see if it shows up there?
Hi Michael,
I’m using YARPP v3.1.9 (not an upgrade) on WP 3.0.4 with Thesis 1.8. I have set the plugin to automatically display related posts.
I’ll check the RSS feed (after turning the plugin to automatically display in the feed) and add it manually to the site if necessary.
I’ll let you know.
Thanks,
TomerThe related posts are available in my RSS feed so last test is to manually add it to the site template.
If it works in your RSS feed, looks like YARPP is working internally… might be a conflict with Thesis. :/
Hi –
I have been trying to install YARPP to run on my Thesis themed site. I get this message:
Please move the YARPP template files into your theme to complete installation. Simply move the sample template files (currently in wp-content/plugins/yet-another-related-posts-plugin/yarpp-templates/) to the /home/kaetemar/theessentialebooker.com/wp-content/themes/thesis_18 directory.
I have NO idea how to do this. Can you help?
Hi Kaete — you can move the files using your favorite FTP client. Just log into the server/site and move from all of the files in the source folde (wp-content/plugins/yet-another-related-posts-plugin/yarpp-templates/) to target folder (/home/kaetemar/theessentialebooker.com/wp-content/themes/thesis_18 directory). Once you do that, make sure that “automatic display” option is turned on in YARPP preferences.
Let me know if that doesn’t fix the problem.
Tomer
PS Once I discovered that I was getting data in the RSS feed, I was able to add the YARPP posts by embedding code into the custom_functions.php file. Hopefully you won’t have to do that but I can walk to through it if you do.
@kaete, moving those template files is a purely optional process. YARPP will work great without that too. π
I’m having the same exact problem with YARPP and Thesis. Looks like a compatibility issue. Even when I’m editing the post, it doesn’t show any related posts (threshold set to 1).
Any luck on fixing this?
@hawaiifi what version of YARPP are you using? Do you get results in your RSS feed if you turn on the “automatically display” option for RSS on in the YARPP settings page?
@mitcho: I’m using WordPress 3.0.4 with YARPP 3.2.1
I’ve turned on the “automatically display” option for RSS and I don’t see anything in the feed:
http://www.hawaiianbeachrentals.com/hawaiitravelblog/feed/rss
Match threshold = 1. I also don’t see under “Related Posts” when editing a post page.
@hawaiifi part of the issue might be that your RSS feed is showing excerpts, not full posts. Maybe you want to change that setting and the related posts will show up?
I turned the RSS feed from excerpts to full posts. This did not help.
I think the main thing to look at is while editing a post, there are “No related posts” under the Related Posts menu. Something is not working right.
Try changing the “relatedness” formula in the YARPP options screen… maybe add some tags in your content so that it picks things up that way.
