    I have a site that uses the Advanced Custom FIelds plugin for a large amount of content. Yoast SEO does not seem to recognise the content in ACF fields, so the site gets a terrible SEO rating from the plugin, and provides inaccurate info to the client.

    To the client it looks like I do not know what I am doing re SEO.

    Surely this must be quite a common problem, both Yoast SEO and ACF are major plugins. I am disappointed they have not worked together to sort this out as far as I can tell.

    Is there anything I can do to get accurate seo results from the Yoast plugin, in this situation?

    I raised a support ticket with ACF at the same time as posting this thread. ACF replied quickly, they think the problem is mainly caused by “troublesome js code in Yoast”. They say they have raised the issue with Yoast themelves in the past. I get the feeling they see this as a problem that is more Yoast’s responsibility than theirs.

    If there is no solution to this, I will have to only use Yoast SEO on small sites that don’t have much theme customisation, which would be a shame, to avoid confusing my clients.

    I would have liked to take up the “Yoast SEO WordPress traning” offer that came into my email today, but there doesn’t seem much point if I can’t use the plugin except on very simple sites.

    Sigh, that reply from ACF is slightly unsatisfactory. Especially as they *know* that this exists:

    Please install that plugin alongside Yoast SEO and ACF and see if it fixes things for you 🙂

    Hi, thanks for that…

    I tried that plugin yesterday, I got the following error:

    <b>Warning</b>: fopen(C:\WampDeveloper\Websites\blahblahblah\webroot\wp-content\plugins\yoast-seo-acf-analysis): failed to open stream: Permission denied in <b>C:\WampDeveloper\Websites\blahblahblah\webroot\wp-includes\functions.php</b> on line <b>4463</b><br />
    <br />
    <b>Warning</b>: fread() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in <b>C:\WampDeveloper\Websites\blahblahblah\webroot\wp-includes\functions.php</b> on line <b>4466</b><br />
    <br />
    <b>Warning</b>: fclose() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in <b>C:\WampDeveloper\Websites\blahblahblah\webroot\wp-includes\functions.php</b> on line <b>4469</b><br />

    However I also saw another plugin,

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/acf-content-analysis-for-yoast-seo/

    I have activated that and it seems to be doing a pretty good job. I would prefer to use the official Yoast plugin though, if I knew how to stop the error.

    Is it just a permissions thing?

    I am sure you will appreciate that to make more complex, quality websites in WordPress, it is extremely likely that I will want to have have both ACF and Yoast SEO plugged in (each being probably the best of their kind), so for people like me it is very important that both work well together.

    Anyway, thanks for the reply 🙂

    Looks like you had a permissions error on the directory, that error is from WordPress itself, not from our plugin.

    Julianwave .. i’m a newbie .. what variable do you use to show ACF in Yoast templates?

    Thank you

    gregy1403 I am probably not the best person to ask, as I still haven’t got a perfect solution myself yet. Also not 100% sure what you are asking, I am assuming you mean to get ACF fields included in Yoast SEO scores. I am hoping to eventually use the official Yoast plugin…

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/yoast-seo-acf-analysis

    …as soon as I can get the permissions error (see thread above) sorted out. At the moment I have quickly put in this other plugin instead…

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/acf-content-analysis-for-yoast-seo/

    …which seems to have started working pretty well as soon as I activated it. In other words all I had to do was activate the plugin and content from the ACF fields immediately began to be included in SEO scores from Yoast.
