    Hi

We have a website where there are product category pages that are redirecting to a different page, and when we do a trace of the redirection, we can see that it is caused by Yoast. We are using the Yoast free version, and we don’t know why this is happening. We never had the premium version running, and I have cleared all the cache on the website.

One of the pages in question is https://www.autec.co.uk/course-category/plant-operator-courses/. We added a custom permalink for the product categories.

We know the issue is with yoast because deactivating the plugin fixes it and we traced the redirect and it comes back saying it is yoast causing it. We used this webste to trace it https://httpstatus.io/

    Thank you,

    Kind Regards,
    Ruben

    Hello Ruben,

Thanks for reaching out about the unwanted redirect.

In the early versions of Yoast SEO, you could enter a page-level redirect that was stored in the database. As this process was resource-intensive, we removed the feature and included a migration process that moved the page-level redirects into the Yoast redirect manager. Every once in a while, we discover that a site has an unexpected redirect caused by these very outdated redirects that somehow never were migrated. Please check your the _postmeta WordPress database table where the meta_key is _yoast_wpseo_redirect for the unwanted redirect to remove it.

    Hi Maybellyne,

    I hope you are well.

I have checked the database and there is no meta_key with the value that you presented.
Could this be in a different table?

    Best Regards
    Ruben

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty-Two.

Please test this on your development or staging site if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.

    Hi Maybellyne

We know the problem is related to Yoast because deactivating Yoast fixes the issue, and when tracing the redirect using tools like https://httpstatus.io/ it says that Yoast is causing the redirect.

With this confirmation can you please let me know what we can do?

    Kind Regards
    Ruben

    Hi there,

I have reached a solution on my own. Reset the options for Yoast
