    Hello,

I am using the latest versions of Yoast SEO and Divi Theme for my WordPress homepage, and have added text in the meta description box for most of my pages.

But even though I can see the meta description text in the source code Google still shows the old automated meta descritption texts, and I have even forced Google to index my pages again with Google Serach Console with no luck.

Any ideas why Google won´t show the updated meta descriptions?

    Thanks!

    Hello @krueger79

Upon checking the homepage of your site, the meta description tag outputting in the page source is:

<meta name="description" content="Jag hjälper dig att skapa balans i livet och öka din levnadsglädje genom professionell rådgivning inom hälsa, kost, träning och livsstil." />

When we do a SITE: search for your site here, we do see it is showing the same meta description, and the plugin is working as expected.

There are several reasons as to why the meta description that appears in the actual search results doesn’t match what you’ve entered in the plugin (likely to do with search term manipulation), but you can learn more about it here – https://yoast.com/help/my-meta-descriptions-arent-showing-up-in-the-search-result-pages/

Hello and thanks for the reply,

I read the link you sent, and agree with you that probably search term manipulation is to blame. But is there anything I can do about this – to get Google to show the meta descriptions I added in Yoast?

    Thanks!

    Hi @krueger79

Aside from rewriting your meta description in the hopes of getting that to be picked up by Google in a later recrawl, there’s not much you can do to influence it, as in the end, it’ll still be up to Google as to what to finally output in the SERP. We recommend that you continue to hone and refine the meta descriptions of your posts and pages – https://yoast.com/meta-descriptions/
