@giuliapep We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.
Can you please confirm you are using the most recent version of Yoast SEO, version 15.9? You can learn more about updating here: https://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/
Also, can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.6.2? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/
If you update to the most current version of WordPress and Yoast SEO, does this resolve the issue?
If after ensuring that both WordPress, Yoast SEO, and your other plugins and themes are up to date the issue is still occurring, we’d next recommend performing a conflicting check to see whether another plugin or theme is interfering with the Yoast SEO Plugin. This will help us narrow down the exact cause and determine what the next steps are while saving you time.
The fastest way to do this is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Nineteen. Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check without affecting normal visitors to your site.
If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts.
Hello,
I’ve checked, both versions on wordpress and yoast are updated. I’ve also downloaded the plug-in you suggested. I’ve tried deactivating all plug-ins, except from the yoast one but the metadescription still doesn’t change. How can I fix this problem? Thanks in advance!
Hi @giuliapep,
Thanks for checking for conflicts. To help us understand why your meta descriptions aren’t saving, we’d like to get the following information:
1. In the edit screen, we’d like you to check for JavaScript errors in the console.
2. Does clearing your cache from caching plugins, the server, a CDN like Cloudflare, or the browser resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear the cache from a plugin, please contact the plugin author. If you’d like to clear the cache from the server, please speak to your host provider. To clear the cache from a browser, use this guide: How to clear your browser’s cache.`
3. Check your PHP error log for any error messages when you update the meta description and then click the “Update” button. You can do this by enabling WordPress debugging or contact your web host.
4. Can you confirm that your version of WordPress and the server meets the plugin’s minimum requirements? You can often find these details by going to Tools > Site Health > Info in WordPress.
Can you let us know the results?
hello,
thank you for helping me!
I’ve three problems on Javascript. https://prnt.sc/109n7sp
🙁
@giuliapep Thanks for your reply.
We reviewed the screenshot you provided and the 403 error seems to be related to the Jetpack plugin. Can you please try the deactivating the notifications feature of Jetpack and let us know whether that resolves the issue?
hello,
I deactivated the jetpack plugin but nothing has changed.
thank you
@giuliapep Sorry to hear that this didn’t resolve the issue.
If the issue is still occurring with only a default theme such as TwentyTwenty and the Yoast SEO plugin active, this may be due to an issue with the plugin files. Can you please try manually reinstalling the plugin to see if this corrects the problem? Reinstalling the plugin will not cause you to lose any of the plugin’s settings or data as that is stored separately from the plugin files in your site’s database.
We have instructions on how to install/upgrade the plugin manually at the following link: hhttps://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/#ftp. You will need an FTP program such as FileZilla and your FTP details, which can be obtained from your host provider.
We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue.
