I can’t think of a setting in our plugin that would cause the comment box to open automatically. Does this also happen when Yoast SEO is not active?

No. when yoest is not active the problem gone.
I did a lot of tests on my site and i found out that this problem happens only when i have an Anchor in my post (together with yoest). if i remove the Anchor – no problem it all.
That is indeed strange. Can you provide an example URL from your site that has this issue? I’d like to take a closer look.

I see what you mean. As much as we’d love to help, you’ve customized the comment form so it’s likely something related to that customization. Is the customized comment form part of a plugin or your theme? If so, you should reach out to their support team and see if they’ve come across the issue previously.
You may also open an issue with our development team here but since it’s customized, there is a chance that we may not be able to fix it. Please provide as much information as possible, including the exact steps on how to reproduce the customize comments in our test environment.
