Your entered code is incorrect – won't allow second try

Captcha works great, except, if the user enters a wrong code I get a red box and the message:
“your entered code is incorrect”
I click in the field to re-enter the code, my cursor turns to a text-entry icon, but I cannot type anything into the red box. It seems that I have to reload the page in order to reenter the captcha, thereby using all of my form data as well.
