Hi there – could you post a screenshot of what you’re seeing on your phone?
You can upload the screenshot – in a graphic format like JPG, PNG, or PDF – in your Media Library, and provide a link so I can see it, or upload it with a service like Imgur or Snaggy.
What browser are you using on the phone, Chrome? What Android OS?
Could you also post a link here of the post or page that you take the screenshot of? Thanks.
Hey Kathryn,
I’m using a Laptop with Windows 8.1; Google Chrome Beta v39 (64-bit); and Firefox v33 (32-bit). My Nexus 7 has Android OS v 4.4.4 . A direct link to an individual video is here: https://toolbox-4-websites.com/music-videos/fireball-by-pitbull-ft-john-ryan .
Here’s a link to a screenshot: http://snag.gy/Tk6WH.jpg .
It seems that all of my videos are maintained at a set Horizontal, Landscape Ratio. I could of sworn I saw a comment about this by Justin Tadlock on another forum, but I don’t remember where I saw it. Seems like it might be an issue with WordPress 4 or 4.1 instead of any particular theme. I thought you might know somebody else in Automattic, that knows for sure.
Thanks for the screenshot.
You may want to try Jetpack’s responsive videos feature, which makes video embeds responsive in themes that support the feature, which Kelly does by default. You don’t need to activate any specific Jetpack module, it should just work.

Thanks Kathryn,
I’ll give that a shot, and try it out. Is there any stripped-down version of Jetpack that I can install and get that feature ?
You could certainly take a look in the plugin repository to see if something else might suit your needs, but I’m not able to recommend anything specific.
I’ve been trying to trim down the number of Plugins that I use recently, so I’ll try that first and see what I can find !
I’m going to wait on installing another Plugin. This may have something to do with a MediaElement.js update, made to the WordPress Core a couple of weeks ago: https://core.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/ticket/29887.
OK, I did two things:
I updated my WordPress to 4.1 alpha 30000, and I installed this plugin:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/fluid-video-embeds. Videos seem to look better in my opinion. I’ll play with it awhile.
OK, THAT Plugin was a mistake !
The developer might need to update it. It worked great on my Laptop but ALL YouTube Videos were redirected back to YouTube itself, whenever I tried to view them on my Nexus 7 (bypassing my website). THIS plugin doesn’t seem to be doing that: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/advanced-responsive-video-embedder. I’ll try it out for a while and if it doesn’t work, I may end up installing Jetpack.
