I’m new with BackupWordpress, version 3.2
    PHP 5.6

It installed fast, ran by itself. Creates files and sends eMail with success.

Problem: The 67 MB file with a cryptic name like “zizCaOXY” (no extension!!) cannot be opened on my Mac and not on my Windows machine. they both claim, it’s no valid file.

Adding “.zip” as extension doesn’t help. I get the message “PCLZIP_ERR_READ_OPEN_FAIL (-2)”

    I tried to add the
    “define( ‘PCLZIP_TEMPORARY_DIR’, ABSPATH . ‘wp-content/backups/’ );”

to the wp-config.php. No effect though.

    What else can I do?

That may be a sign that there was not enough space to finish the backup. That cryptic file name is actually the temporary file created by the zip process, so it won’t be usable.
Can you check if you have enough disk space on your hosting for the backup?

    thanks

    Paul,
    you fast!!!! Great

    My hosting site tells me:

    9.8 GB total
    3.0 GB used
    6.8 GB free

Is this the info you were asking for?

Looks like you have enough space.
Could you try a manual backup?

    Yes
so far I always did it manually via FTP for the WordPress folder and phpMyAdmin for the mysql.
    DataBase size is 42.6 MB

Sorry, I meant go to the BackUpWordPress admin page and click “run now” if you haven’t tried that yet

    Paul!

    Yes I did numerous times….

By now I do 4 Archive Files withe the mySQL stuff and it always creates a new temp ZIP file which is the deleted with the next run.

I was hoping for the update to fix the problem. But it still does not create valid Backups.

Just send a message through the WordPress admin – and link to this thread 🙂

    Hi Paul,

the title of this thread says, my problem is solved?

I posted the link in the support of the admin. Nothing came back and now support is “closed”, i.e. it does not open a chat window.

    Hi Thomas,

Our inbuilt support system is currently down. We’re looking why it’s gone down.

As for this issue you’re experiencing, we’ll still need to investigate the problem.
Hopefully support will be back in action soon, I’ll reach out to you when it’s back.

    Cheers!

    Thanks Owain!

As it does not show any error, just no reaction I was looking for problems on my end….
