I think this has to do with how it inserts the bibliography — it relies on certain class name conventions WordPress uses in themes. And if your theme has changed these, then it won’t work. Hmm … I could give the option of defining the post class name, but non-themers might not know it or know how to get it … hmm … well, I’ll have to think on this.
Thanks, Katie…perhaps simple instructions here would suffice for those of us using certain themes? We could readily edit your code accordingly, if that would work.
Cheers,
Jim

I’m going off the top of my head (not on my dev computer) but I believe I’ve set it up as follows: the generated bibliography is added by jQuery (Javascript) to the bottom of the post container. I suspect I’ve targeted a DIV with the class “post” which is the WordPress standard. Essentially, Zotpress needs to know WHERE to place the bibliography it generates.

Alright! I decided to do something a little different. Now there’s a special shortcode for you to place your in-text bibliography wherever you want it in your post. Released for Zotpress 4.5.
Katie, thank you! Do you think you’ll document attributes of the new [zotpressInTextBib] shortcode on the Help page at some point as well? It did not appear to add attributes in the widget such as style, and I just want to know what sorts of attributes it would take.
(Btw, I tried simply entering [zotpressInTextBib] at the bottom of a posting with two successful [zotpressInText] shortcodes, but the biblio did not appear, so there must be other required attributes.)
Thanks again,
Jim

Hmm … odd! [zotpressInTextBib] currently doesn’t have any attributes. It’s just a marker for Zotpress to place the bibliography where you want it in the post. Do you have jQuery enabled in your theme? This is required for it to work.
I’m using the Striking theme, which has alot of jQuery stuff in it I believe…maybe other possible ways to diagnose, or other users who can report success?
Thanks,
Jim

Alright! I’m about to release Zotpress 4.5.1 which is displaying the in-text bib in a different way, one that should be better compatible with your setup.
Hi, and thank you for this wonderful plugin.
I upgraded from 4.5 to 4.5.2 and now I encounter the very same problem doctorproctor did before.

Okay, with doctorproctor’s help I’m attempting to pinpoint the problem … I’ll get back soon!

Should be fixed in Zotpress 4.5.3.
Many thanks, I’ll give you some feedback.
Well, for me it’s still there. I don’t think the origin of my problem is the same than for doctorproctor, since it appeared with 4.5.2 version… Should I open an other topic? If no, it could be better not to mark it as resolved.
For sure it’s not theme related, because it does it with every theme I have (including unmodified twenty ten and twenty eleven).

@melchisedech I’m not sure if it’s even the same problem, because I used a brand new way of displaying it. Can you post a link? Or privately contact me: http://katieseaborn.com/contact
Okay, works for me now!! Thanks much, Katie.
