Thank you Mika, I was about to do it when the client decided they did not want to risk it. You help here was greatly appreciated.

Upon changing everything back we are running into a small issue, but one we cannot resolve. The home page on 2 of the 3 sites gives a 404 not found. We tried making a new page, but still the same issue. If we view all the other pages in both sub sites they come up.

If you would like access I’ll get you the info off forum.

I’m sure this one is simple and again i really hope this will close the thread for good!
    Thanks!!!

Hi Mika, I really appreciate the effort you are taking on my behalf getting this resolved. (If you get to Sedona,AZ some day we’d have coffee waiting 🙂 )

I’ll be in touch with the client about that. I’ve moved and cloned sites many times. I know on a manual move you just need to make a few changes in the db to get that done. I’ll list my assumptions about how to do with this wp multi instillation.

    1. leave the physical site location exactly where it is.
    2. create a host record second.MySite.com
    3. point that host to /root/second making ‘second’ the root instead of MySite/second like was done for ct, ny, vt.
    4. change the db to reflect this change

question: following these steps will the multi-site know second.mysite.com is the main site or are there other changes i need to make? It makes sense that it would, but i just prefer to know for sure.

    Thanks

    (the real host is germany.groupofforty.com)

    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /germany/ on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

You may NOT be able to use subdomains while WP is in a SubFolder without some serious massaging of vhosts.

I hope we still can otherwise this will be a serious issue.

Thank you Mika!!! That got me so it does not error out. I’m guessing the conversion is not as simple as just changing a few lines of code.

I killed the path as i did before, but when i click on “CT.MySite.com i get redirected to this url:
    http://mySite.com/second/wp-signup.php?new=ct

    with this message:
Greetings Site Administrator! You are currently allowing “none” registrations. To change or disable registration go to your Options page.

What else do i need to do to get this completely converted?

I really hope I’m not going to tun this into an endless “Hey, help helpless me again, and again, and again ..” type thread.

    Thanks

    Robert,

Thanks, that may work. How much is the pro version? I couldn’t find that. We may need customization on this. Can you do that? We are hoping to have many users on this site. How can I handle that? Layers are limited to 100 posts, but this could grow way beyond that. Could this plugin handle that?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Kris
