Thanks for your question. I just checked out the website demo you sent, and it looks like that plugin does not work. The video is still shareable. Unless I am missing something.

The bottom line is these types of plugins are against YouTube’s Terms of Service. Even if they can get this to work, it would be a hack, and would be unreliable if YouTube changed anything with how their videos work. I would highly suggest you do not use these types of services for mission critical video.

Our Bunny.net option is a great alternative and is seriously cheap. Most people pay only a few cents per month, and would be infinitely more reliable than trying to hack YouTube.

While I can see why this would be something that’s wanted, I wouldn’t recommend doing this for a few reasons.

Neither of these services officially support this, meaning if they changed something in how their videos work. For example, Dropbox free users only get a 20gb/day streaming limit across all of their files. Also Dropbox will only show you the first 15 minutes of a video via the website regardless of how long the video is. Google drive is similar in this regard.

Right now, you could probably do this by smudging the URL, but you’d need to constantly monitor to make sure nothing changes there, and you don’t hit any limits.

In short, neither service wants you to use them for video streaming and it wouldn’t be reliable long-term. Reliability is very important to us, so it probably won’t be anything that will be officially supported.
