The delay is also more pronounced when you quickly swipe through the gallery. Normally a low res image would be displayed. Instead for the newer gallery, you either get a grey box the same dimensions as the image to load (which is okay) or a black screen (less ideal) that only shows the gallery interface icons

Thanks for your speedy response. It’s possible this is only apparent on iOS / mobile.

I have been able to replicate the issue on an iPad and iPhone in Safari, Firefox and Chrome
