Here is an meetup event which shows what I am referencing on the ability to edit events.

As you can see in the event, I have that big “block” at the top added by my theme. On the previous version of wp-meetup I would edit the post and in some cases add a featured image to the post which would be displayed at the top and in other cases I would simply edit the post disabling the featured image.
Here is what it looked like before with the same event and a featured image added as well as the event details. This was great.
