In reply to: Redirecting old site to new WP oneAh, okay that is a good thing!
I did a quick Google search for Yahoo Domain Services. Looks like you should be able to login here: http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/services/
See if you can get in and find your domain name as a starting point.

In reply to: Redirecting old site to new WP oneYes, that could be either because the window of 30-60 days isn’t up yet or Yahoo didn’t really cancel the registration.
How long ago did you cancel?

There are a number of places you can buy domain names. Personally, I like hover.com.
You can use a service like, http://www.whois.com/whois/ to see if the domain is available yet. Can take 30-60 days depending on the registrar.

In reply to: Redirecting old site to new WP oneHello Hassrah,
The answer lies with the domain pointers where your old domain name is registered. The sometimes confusing part about domain names is that there is 2 main aspects to them:
- The registration of the domain
- The hosting of the site
Some companies will do both for you so you have to be careful because if you cancel the service you may be losing the domain name registration as well.
If you purchased the domain name separate from your hosting (always a better practice), then you can point your domain to any host you like. If you did this you should have received an account where you can log in and administer the DNS pointers. Normally, it is the ip address of “A” record you’ll want to change.
Each registrar can be a little different with the syntax and wording they use, so pay close attention to the instructions they provide.
Hope that helps.
