In reply to: website redirecting to old home pageHello, theranchmine, & welcome. Nice to see a fellow Arizonan on here–I’m just northwest of the big city.
Can we please see your .htaccess file? You can find that by going to your hosting provider’s control panel, & thence to file manager. Make sure that the option to view hidden files is checked. You might also wish to change the name of any index.htm or index.html files, ie, index1.htm(l), as these will generally appear before a php file. But even when I go to theranchmine.com/index.php, a Weebly site still comes up.

In reply to: Change server settingsHello, aarav3421, & welcome. Who is your host? You should contact them & ask if you have, or can get, these settings in place. Also, if you have a site backup, or an older copy of your theme, perhaps you could restore that. I don’t recommend it, but if you can’t comply w/the new version requirements, that may be your only choice.

In reply to: How to find and delete backdoor PHP/ccqqji.angelwp, is this a multisite installation or just multiple single sites? We need to know that, as instructions will differ accordingly.
You’re more than welcome & indeed encouraged to help here. It’s especially important in the polyglot community, & you’d be a natural. &, if you ever ran into anything you need help with, just pm me on the WordPress Slack channel, & I’ll do what I can to assist. That way, you won’t feel you’re out there all by yourself. That can feel a little scary when you’re new. Before too long, you won’t need anyone. But when you’re just starting, it’s nice to know there’s someone around you can ping if you feel the need.
We meet on the Slack channel on Thursdays at 1600 UCT. You’re welcome to attend those meetings also. There are lots of nice folks there who can help you as well. It’s a great community, & I’ve met a lot of superb folks in the course of my involvement, yourself included.

In reply to: How to find and delete backdoor PHP/ccqqji.Hi, angelwp. If I had to spend all day Sunday wading through this forum, reading my stuff, I’d definitively have a 🙁 too. No one deserves that. I’m really sorry. Let’s see if we can’t help you get this worked out.
Could you please tell us what sort of hosting you have, ie, shared, VPS, or dedicated? Are you using Windows or Linux?
I suspect this is what we might be dealing with:
https://pluginproblems.info/layerslider-xss-sql-injection-vulnerability/Obviously, we’ve got to clear the backdoor first or installing the update will have no effect.
Is Wordfence installed on your site at this point?
You’ve folowed instructions incredibly well, & that makes it a whole lot easier for the volunteers here to help you.
Your appreciativeness of our efforts here also goes an incredibly long way.
I can read Spanish, as mentioned in the topic to which you replied, though my writing & speaking leave much to be desired. I have a few friends on these forums, however, who are very fluent, & I’m sure they’d assist if English is difficult for you, though it doesn’t appear to be. Just let us know what you need, & we’ll do our very best to help.
Hang in. We’ll help you get this straightened out.

In reply to: 500 Internal Server Error (Still an issue … someone help please)Also, Crista, can we please see your .htaccess & your index.php files? You can probably open these using Bluehost’s file manager. Just copy & paste the text. Please enclose in

In reply to: 500 Internal Server Error (Still an issue … someone help please)Hi, Crista. Glad you’re ok. Yes, that is what I was referring to. I’m not sure what Bluehost requires, if anything, to “officially launch” your site, as most hosts don’t require anything but a homepage to replace their default 1.
Can you perchance deactivate or ask Bluehost to deactivate their endurance-cache plugin? This seems to have a plethora of known issues, & I think may be causing yours.

[HTTP/1.1 304 Not Modified 181ms]”I’m thinking 1 thing you might try is to deactivate your caching plugin & see if that makes any difference. Don’t forget to clear your browser cache. Logging off & then back in should also be done.
Meanwhile, there are all sorts of things that could be causing this–insufficient memory, program errors, less than optimal configuration, 2 many plugins, database bloating, & more. Please try deactivating plugins you’re not using, & you might wish to switch to a default theme to see if the problem resolves.
If your hosting provider gives you an aplet in your control panel that allows you to view your site’s error logs, you may wish to do so. In addition, you may also wish to open wp-config.php and change wp_debug to ‘true’. This is a security risk, so change it back after you’ve logged into your site & viewed any error messages doing this may generate.
Lastly, this sort of problem can require significant technical skill to resolve, & you may wish to consider posting a job at jobs.wordpress.net under the performance category to secure the technical expertise you need in order to do so.

In reply to: While Updating and Old Page/Post got 404 errorHello, iwebservice786, & welcome. Please try logging into your dashboard & changing to a default theme (they begin w/the word ‘twenty’), & then try to update again. If this solves the problem, then the theme is at fault, & you’ll either need to update it or find a different theme. It does appear that the latest version is 3.11.
It could also be that there is a conflict between your theme & a plugin you’re running that could also cause this problem. Thus, you may wish to disable your plugins and try the update–if that works, then there’s a conflict between your theme & 1 of your plugins.
Sometimes it’s helpful in these cases to open your wp-config.php, either via your hosting provider’s file manager or an FTP client & change wp_debug from ‘false’ to ‘true’. This is a security risk, so please change it back once you’ve obtained the information you need, but this will often show error messages on the site which reveal where the problem lies.
Please let us know whether this helped or if you have further questions.

In reply to: Fatal errorHello, soullove73, & welcome. There are a few things you can do. The easiest is likely to simply upload a new copy of the theme, using either FTP, or your hosting provider’s file manager. If for some reason you cannot do that, then rename the active theme folder–we often suggest adding a 1 or a .old to the end of the –folder name–& this should allow you to log back into your dashboard & change the active theme.
Please let us know whether or not this helped.

In reply to: 404 error when trying to access plugins pageThat’s what it sounded like to me, Zach & why I suggested what I did. Sometimes that gets a bit dicey, because there are a sizeable number of site owners who don’t know how to FTP. If you could please mark this question as ‘resolved’ so the volunteers will know you’ve been helped, that’d be very much appreciated. Thanks for letting us know that worked for your situation.

In reply to: 404 error when trying to access plugins pageHi, Zach, & welcome. Perhaps ftp-ing the wp-admin folder up to your server might resolve this?
Is that something you know how to do?

In reply to: Website dashboard (and website) loading slowlyHi, sleeptightconsultants, & welcome. Ok, so I of course cannot get into your dashboard & have absolutely no desire to, but what I’m seeing thus far is not loading inordinately slowly on my end. However, I believe you when you say you are having these difficulties, of course.
These issues are always interesting to troubleshoot, as they involve a computer/a device, a browser, & a server, & the interaction between the 3. & the trick is to find out where the fault lies, because it may not actually be the website. Indeed, when I ping your website, the minimum reply time is 25ms, the maximum is 48, & the average is 32, which is really very acceptable.
The first thing that might be worth trying is another browser to see if that makes any difference. You might wish to clear your browser cache. Getting rid of temporary files & defragmenting your hard drive may also prove helpful. You should also ensure that your device is clear of malware, ie, viruses, worms, etc.
Secondly, I note that you are getting errors when attempting to load your Google analytics plugin, so you might wish to deactivate it to see if that increases performance. You also appear to be running a caching plugin, and you may wish to deactivate that as well to see if that helps.
You might try disabling plugins by renaming your plugins folder. This could mess up the site’s appearance temporarily. If that resolves the problem, then rename the plugins folder back to its original name, but rename all plugin subfolders, ie, google analytics1, etc. Then rename each individual plugin folder in turn, logging into the site each time until things start going slow.
You are loading content from your new mom’s group domain. That may be slowing things down. The plugin Jetpack allows you to upload images to their server so they can serve them to your visitors, thereby speeding up performance, though I can’t say that would help any issues w/your dashboard.
Your database may need optimizing. There are plugins to do this, but if you’re having difficulty w/your dashboard, it may be that the database is so large that the script times out. I don’t know if Bluehost permits shell access, but that may be a solution. You may have accumulated so much content over the years that the site actually needs to be split, w/1 site containing your most recent content, & the other containing earlier content, though that sort of solution is not as relevant to a site like yours as it is to a news or sports site where content is in fact time-sensitive.
Sometimes there are files in your web root folder or in various subfolders called error_log or error.log. If these contain recent errors, it might point to where the problem lies. In addition, sometimes it’s helpful to open wp-config.php, either via your hosting control panel or an ftp client & change wp-debug from ‘false’ to ‘true’. This is a security risk, so change it back immediately when you’re done, but it might display error messages that can help you troubleshoot this. Lastly, some control panels actually contain an errors aplet that allows you to view errors that are occurring w/your site. If you find these, feel free to paste them to your next reply, enclosing the lines in
, ie,line 1 line 2Please let us know if you need instructions on how to do any of this. As you might imagine from this post, this kind of problem can be tough to troubleshoot & can involve a good bit of technical expertise. If these tips have not proved helpful, or you feel it’s beyond your technical knowledge, you can post a job at:

In reply to: 500 Internal Server Error (Still an issue … someone help please)So cristalin84, I’m still not sure we’ve got the pages to work. When you go into your WordPress dashboard, thence to ‘Settings > Reading’, what have you set your front page to, ie, recent posts or a static page? A static page is what you find on most typical websites, whereas your recent posts is like a blog. If you’ve set it to recent posts, please try publishing a test post & see if it replaces the ‘coming soon’ site.

In reply to: 500 Internal Server Error (Still an issue … someone help please)cristalynn84, Permalinks are how your posts are reached. So if you had a post named hello, then your permalink, w/that structure in place, would look like:
https://www.olivenosh.com/2017/10/20/hello. I personally suggest you check the 1 that says ‘post name’, & get a permalink like https://www.olivenosch.com/hello. Those words surrounded by % signs are called variables, (kind of like high school algebra where you dealt w/x & y). They can be substituted for actual parts of the post information, as noted above w/the year, month, & day name. Does that help?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: 500 Internal Server Error (Still an issue … someone help please)cristalynn84, we *really* need your .htaccess file. Your domain does work if you go to https://www.olivenosh.com/index.php. You may log in either by using your ‘admin login’ link or by typing a /wp-login.php like: https://www.olivenosh.com/index.php/wp-login.php. Please set your permalinks as I instructed in my last post.
