  • Tig1960, please accept my apologies. I was away yesterday.

Let’s look at a few things.
    1) Please examine your public_html directory in terms of its ownership. This should be owned by the webserver group. Often that’s ww-data, but it varies w/operating systems/webservers. If you’ve set ownership to be by your home user, then please ensure that that user is indeed a member of the webserver group.
    2) Directory permissions are generally set to 644, file permissions to 644 or 755.
    3) It might well be helpful to look at your server error logs. Specifically I’m wondering if your session data is being saved to a writeable directory–that’s 1 thing. I’m also receiving lots of errors such as:
DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for https://www.woodlandtreasures.co.uk/wp-content/themes/Divi/includes/builder/frontend-builder/build/frontend-builder-global-functions.js.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE

So it seems as though your theme isn’t loading properly.

Feel free to share any errors from your logs you think might help.

garfy, Please disable all caches & clear your browser as well.

Please also tell us your site url.

    Hello, Tig1960, & welcome.

First, please understand this sort of problem is a b-word to troubleshoot. The main reason is it’s intermittent, & the secondary reason is it’s almost a necessity to have your hands & eyes on the site, looking at error logs, etc. But as forum volunteers, that’s not permissible, so here we go!

    So:
    1) Is this a shared, vps, or dedicated server?
    2) Linux or Windows?
    3) Please tell us how your url’s are saved in your dashboard under ‘Settings > General’.
    4) What is your PHP version?

Your style sheets are throwing multiple multiple errors. Your Google Analytics plugin script didn’t load.

Having said all that, though, I wonder if your version of CPanel has an applet where you can view error logs. These might be most instructive. Please show them us on your next reply.

Also, in your next reply, please let us look at your .htaccess file.

As well, please download the WordPress site health check & troubleshooting plugin from:
    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/health-check/
& let us see any results it displays.

That’s it for now, I guess. Let’s see where it gets us.

    Hello, garfy, & welcome.

There are several ways around this. 1 thing you could do is to get a script called Search-and-replace-DB by interconnectit, available from here:
    https://interconnectit.com/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/

Specifically, it has a command line interface script that can be used for this purpose, so you don’t need to log into your WordPress site.

Unfortunately, as you’ll see if you visit the site, they pretty well require you to sign in blood that you know what you’re doing & they’re not liable if you screw it up. Jump through their hoops is all I can say.

Truthfully, urls aren’t really serialized, & I’ve actually done a search-replace in a text editor & reimported back into the database, but it’s not recommended procedure. It does require that the encoding is the same between your editor & database, but that’s not a problem for most modern text editors.

I can’t warn you enough to do backups. Yeah–I know–it seems kinda counterintuitive to back up something that’s already screwed up, but it’s always best to be able to go back to a known starting point if things go really south.

Well, chris0147, since we don’t know which plugin that is, please disable your plugins 1 at a time & check your health status messages until it disappears.

Then we’ll see which messages remain, ie, if there’s any more work to be done, or if fixing the 1 fixed everything.

Actually, @suvie, it looks *so* much better than it did yesterday when I initially looked at it. Please try clearing your browser cache & see if that doesn’t help you.

@suvie, your .htaccess & index.php files look ok, please revert your index.php changes back to what they were when you posted this. The last line of that file requires a directory, not a url.

Were I you, I’d also change the home & site url’s in the database, so you could actually do a search like:
    search: shop.thecontrastclub.com
    replace: thecontrastclub.com

Once that’s done, you can get rid of them in the wp-config.php file, which I would recommend.

1 thing I’d say to you–you can *never* have too many backups. Well, maybe you can, always label them w/a date so you know which 1 is which, & make sure you back up your database. Do you know how to do that? I’m not trying to be condescending, I’m just trying to make sure everything is in order. Woopsies are not good when dealing w/this sort of thing. They’re particularly perilous when using email to conduct sensitive support tasks. I need to ensure we can exit gracefully if required.

suvie, I had a closer look at your site. 1 thing I’m seeing is that it appears you’ve got a lot of mixed content, ie, http & https addresses together. That will need to be addressed.

It appears that at least some of your url’s are ok, ie, pointing to the wp-content off the root, but do please check your index.php file to insure that it, too, points to the root.

Some of your widget urls are not right, ie, https://shop.thecontrastclub.com/index.php/my-account/”>MY ACCOUNT, so those do need to be changed as I suggested above. Please also ensure that you have a .htaccess file in your root folder & that the base refers to /.

HTH. Don’t hesitate to post your index.php or .htaccess file if you need assistance w/all that. Please ensure that if at some point you decide to post your wp-config.php, all user credentials are removed.

    Hello, suvie, & welcome.

Likely the best way to do this is w/a database search-&-replace. Right now I rather suspect your urls look like:
    https://thecontrastclub.com/shop/wp-content
& they need to be changed to:
    https://thecontrastclub.com/wp-content
Obviously those url’s are just examples, & you would need to fill in the actual ones. The script I tend to use for this purpose is search-&-replace-db by InterconnectIt, but there are others. It goes w/o saying, except it doesn’t, that you should take a backup of your database prior to doing any sort of search-&-replace, as these sorts of scripts don’t have an undo function. Were I you, I’d make 2 backups, just to be extra sure.

Please also look to your index.php file & ensure that the last line points to the root of your site now. So it should be ‘thecontrastclub.com’ as opposed to containing any other subdirectories.

    Hello, chris0147, & welcome.

You don’t tell us a lot here, so before making suggestions which may not be relevant, I’m going to ask questions instead.

    1) What sort of hosting do you have, shared, VPS, or dedicated?
    2) What is the operating system for your hosting, Linux or Windows? Version?
    3) Is this a new site, or is this an issue that’s recently arisen w/an older site?

I think that’s it for now. I suspect permission/ownership issues, but your answers will tell me if I’m on the right track or going down a rabbit trail.

If it’s localhost, that’s gonna take a metric ton-&-a-half to set up. The other thing is, these forums prohibit such.

If you can’t register when plugins are disabled, then please go to your general settings & ensure that the setting is checked. These other plugins may have turned it off.

I commented on your video, btw. :).

Javier, that was a good video! & my Spanish is probly as good as your English & vice versa. My opinion is that we’re both trying very hard to communicate w/each other, so we shouldn’t apologize if difficulties arise doing so, because so many just give up trying & we’re not doing that.

Here’s what I’d like you to do, please, Sir. I’d like you to deactivate all plugins except wp mail smtp. Then let’s see what happens w/the registration form, ok?

Herchi, I’m not certain, but I’m not even sure registration even works on a localhost install, as it makes little sense, & is probably actually dangerous from a security vantagepoint , to do so. Having thus said, I believe wp-mail-smtp generates logs. If you can find some error entries, these would be enlightening.

@herchi, is this a localhost install?

    @biskupator, you wrote:
“Since you have insider insight could you tell me if konsoleH is just a control panel like cpanel. And who should I contact to get konsoleH credentials (I’ve never been there)? Should I go to the company that made the website or directly to Hetzner?”

KonsoleH is just a control panel, & that’s likely where you’ll upgrade your PHP.

If you wish to take complete control of your website, then you should change passwords on both your website & your KonsoleH. If your hosting provider has a separate section for account login, then that needs to be changed as well. Make sure your passwords are tank proof, ie, they’re long, they don’t spell words, they contain upper & lowercase letters, as well as numbers & punctuation signs.

To obtain any necessary credentials, you can contact either the company who built the site or Hetzner. If you contact Hetzner, you’ll have to go through a lot to verify that you’re the real owner of the site, so it might be easier to contact the folks who built your website. Then you can change the password(s) & that should deny access to the developer. You’ll also want to change the password on the WordPress database as well. Again, you’ll likely do that through KonsoleH.

It does appear that KonsoleH allows you to create separate FTP users, but I’m not at all certain that they permit separate users of the KonsoleH panel itself.

I use CPanel hosting for my clients, so, unfortunately, KonsoleH is not something I’m familiar with.
