I had read your tutorial several times (and managed to get all but featured images to work) but obviously not thoroughly enough because having read it once again I have managed to figure it out what the problem was! I was trying to upload images that I suppose were a little to large, although much below the 20mb limit. Having resized them in photoshop to roughly 2x I have solved the problem.
As a suggestion I wonder if it could display an error message for images that are too large. Currently nothing happens at all, which was the source of confusion.
Anyway, thanks for your fantastic plug-in and the support. As a designer, rather than a developer it did take me a couple of days to get my head around the features, as in places the language used to describe the settings and features is perhaps a little ambiguous for non-technical users, but now I understand what I need to do.

Yes this theme takes an unusual approach to featured images! You do indeed have to upload full-sized images and then the theme sets them out from left to right according to their original height and width, rather than to a standard sized thumbnail like most themes.
I’m also having trouble understanding the function of the drag-drop ‘upload’ and ‘replace’ boxes in the dashboard, possibly because they are not working correctly. When I drag and drop an image to either box, the grey wheel spins for 30 seconds, stops, but then nothing seems to change on the dashboard and the image still appears blurred on my rMBP when I refresh the homepage. Am I doing something wrong??
Just to follow up – I solved the error message by moving the site to my web host, but I’m still having issues making featured images display at high resolution.
The front page of my site comprises featured the featured images of posts, so it’s a bit of an issue!

The theme is Onigiri by elmastudio.de. It uses the Jetpack ‘Projects’ plugin.Does your plugin support featured images? If so can you explain what steps I should take?
