Second, you won’t be running anything off ww.wp.xz.cn. You will be running wordpress off your own hosting which in this case would be hostgator.
To check your nameservers, enter your site (delightfulmessylife.com) here.
As of now, your nameservers are still with wordpress.com
Lastly yes, it can take a few days for your changes to take effect. If you just made the change, just check back later.

There a “Insert Read More tag” in the editor, see here.
This will remove all the content after the tag, so just place it at the very top of the post.
For the images try removing the featured images if you have them set. I’m not too familiar with this theme but usually the featured images will show on the blog page.
