As of now the custom message are escaped and doesn’t support img or link. But it would be a good idea to have it, I have added it in the plugin todo list. 8)
Yes, I have been planning to move it to Settings menu and make the dashboard with less clutter.
You can expect these changes in the next release.

In the new version v2.0 of the plugin and I have made a few CSS fixes and now it no longer changes the width of login box.
